miso: Chrome Extension for Misskey Integration
miso is a Chrome extension developed by Srgr0 that allows users to seamlessly integrate Misskey, a social media platform, with their browser. With miso, users can open notes or user profiles from other Misskey instances directly in their browser.
To set up miso, users need to install the extension from the Chrome Web Store. They also need to generate an access token in their Misskey instance's settings and API section. Once the token is obtained, users can enter their Misskey instance's URL and the API key in the extension's options.
Once miso is set up, users can simply click on the extension's icon in the toolbar while on a note or user page of any Misskey instance (except the one they configured) to open it in their own Misskey instance. miso prioritizes security and privacy by handling minimal information. The configured siteDomain and API key are stored in Chrome Storage, but it's important to note that the data is not encrypted. To minimize risks, it's recommended to assign minimal permissions to the API key. The extension only sends requests to the user-configured siteDomain when the extension is clicked, and the payload includes the tab's URL and API key. The extension does not include any analytics tools for usage tracking, although Chrome automatically collects installation, uninstallation, and user data.
